When Rulenny Adames Nuñez moved to the United States at just 18 years old, she anticipated achieving the American Dream. Having relocated from the Dominican Republic to help with the costs of her grandparents’ medical bills, she quickly found that living in the US was not what she had imagined. Being separated from her family, working ten hours per day as a restaurant server, and coping with isolation took a toll on her mental health.
Experiencing exhaustion throughout the whole day and developing poor habits, Nuñez felt lost for years, struggling to move on from the impact of her move. She wanted a different lifestyle than the average American 20-year-old. When she dedicated herself to making an impact on the world, she found TLC. After attending a TLC event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she began to embrace a healthier routine and set new goals. “I was truly fighting with myself mentally,” she said. “It was hard for me to change my mindset. TLC has showed me exactly what I need to do with my life.”
The Philadelphia event that Nuñez attended inspired her to transform her habits. After learning about the importance of nutrition, she started to prepare meals in advance, saving cooking time throughout the week to focus on other priorities. In addition, she used a time-marked water bottle to ensure that she drank three liters of water every day, consumed the products in The 15 Day Challenge Kit, and woke up early in the morning to exercise. During her fourth 15 Day Challenge, she lost six pounds!
Not only did Nuñez experience results from the challenge, but she also inspired over 40 other Latina women to join. “I knew that The 15 Day Challenge was the path to the change I was looking for in my body and mind,” she said. “Life is like a mountain. You have ups and downs. Right now, I am more consistent, and I love this wellness process. Your body is a temple that God gives you, and I’m taking care of my temple.”
*Results achieved through one or more 15 Day Challenge cycles combined with sufficient water consumption, a low calorie, balanced diet, and regular physical activity.
