Isabel Valdez joined TLC in October with the goal of helping other people change their lives. Through The 15 Day Challenge, she gained a sense of empowerment and hopes to inspire other women to be more comfortable in their own skin.

Before After ISABEL VALDEZ ENGBefore taking on The 15 Day Challenge, Valdez began to feel insecure during intimate moments with her husband, “ashamed” of the extra weight she had gained in her stomach. She sometimes felt uncomfortable being intimate with her husband, not because he expressed any problem with her weight but because of her own mindset. “I know there are a lot of women who say that they are very confident in their bodies,” she said. “But once you get to a certain level of intimacy with your partner, there might be some moments when women feel embarrassed.”

During her first ever 15 Day Challenge, Valdez aimed to feel more confident in her body and realized that to reach her goal, her lifestyle needed a drastic change. She started taking Zumba classes with a group over Zoom, and though walking had never been her preferred form of exercise, she walked for an hour every day. Additionally, she transitioned from drinking one or two cups of water every day to drinking a sufficient amount of water to aid her new exercise routine.

Valdez claimed that part of her Dominican culture involved eating a lot of heavy meals, often including late-night dinners. During The 15 Day Challenge, she organized her eating schedule and focused on portion control, eating smaller amounts, limiting sugars, consuming MatriX as a meal replacement, and eating more fruit. After making these alterations to her lifestyle, she lost a total of 16 pounds during her first challenge and finally felt like a “product of the product” that she was promoting as part of TLC.

On day three, Valdez began to feel the effects of the challenge, feeling more energized and motivated to keep pushing. Within a week, she started to see results in her photos. “Within a week, I was able to see the change in my body and feel like a full woman without limitations when it comes to being intimate,” she said, claiming that she felt more comfortable with her body “behind closed doors.” She hopes to empower other women with her journey and show them that with discipline and determination, they, too, can feel more confident inside and out.
