Enid Parham took on The 15 Day Challenge during a transitional period in her life. Having been named the best cannabis chef in Michigan in 2021, she grew overwhelmed with the significant amount of attention directed toward her performance, especially as she prepared to begin operating her own catering business. In addition to facing the pressure of her new career, Parham lost several friends—close to her age—to complications that resulted from their poor health. At that time, she began to worry for her own health, weighing nearly 300 pounds and experiencing issues with her blood pressure. “It was at that moment that I decided I wanted to live, be healthier, and enjoy life to the fullest,” she said. “I came to the conclusion that I have a lot more living to do, and I wasn’t going to squander it because life is precious. I had to start acting like it.”
Parham joined the challenge after she found Tanya Carter’s story on social media. Inspired by her coach’s mentorship, she asked herself what she could accomplish in just 15 days. Throughout her challenge, she did CrossFit workouts three days a week and ensured that she exercised every muscle group. In addition, she got more rest and drank more water, joining her team to start each morning with a glass of lemon water. Though Parham’s career as a chef caused her to constantly taste food throughout her day, she spent more time meal-planning and practiced portion control, eating smaller amounts every two hours to keep herself full and push back her cravings. Since mid-November, she has lost a total of 18 pounds!
Throughout her challenge, Parham recorded her journey, sharing her transformation on social media to keep herself accountable. After she began posting, she received an outpouring of support and began a “ripple effect” of inspiration, with many people reaching out to ask about the program. “I started to get encouraging feedback, which made me become more accountable,” she said. “I just wanted to get up and do it every day. It also changed my perspective about weight loss and a healthier lifestyle.” Equipped with healthier habits and a supportive community, Parham hopes to push forward and continue her progress. “Once you get into it and get it done, you feel so great afterward,” she said. “That’s what I look forward to now: getting that great feeling like I’ve really accomplished something for myself and my life.”*
